Chronic Migraine patients are a challenge for Primary Care and also for specialists. They not only have a significant effect on our patient’s health but also their life in general and often these patients suffer significant economic, social and psychological consequences.
The usual treatment for migraine is either immediate relief drugs such as Triptans or preventative drugs such as: Amitriptyline, beta blockers or Topiramate.
NICE licensed in 2012, here in the UK, Botox (Botulinum Toxin A) for the treatment of migraine.
Dr Stefan Schumacher talked about the background for this treatment, which includes: indication, contraindications, side effects, benefits, costs and clinical evidence.
