About the course

Highlight of this talk

The Inflammatory bowel diseases have seen a progressive and sustained increase in incidence in the Western World. With lifetime risks of developing IBD now being as high as 1 in 200, making an accurate and rapid diagnosis in primary care is now all the more important.

Furthermore, with a significant decrease in national endoscopic provision, as a result of the Covid pandemic, routing patients accurately is now paramount.

This talk encompasses simple investigations to make a diagnosis, toolkit approach to initial treatment of relapses, and an overview on the safety of IBD in pregnancy and vaccinating during pregnancy. The latter part of the talk approaches the management of microscopic colitis a growing and sometimes forgotten colitis in the elderly.
