Cardiac CT is a rapidly growing area to detect CAD early and reduce MIs by more accurately identifying those patients who need primary preventative treatment and those who need revascularisation.

AIM:

• Enable GPs to request CT coronary angiography (CTCA) directly for their (private) patients.

OBJECTIVES: By the end of the talk, GPs will:

• Understand that CTCA is safe, non-invasive and low-risk test for CAD
• Feel empowered to request CTCA directly for patients with chest pain or breathlessness
• Understand that CTCA can reassure asymptomatic patients with cardiovascular risk factors 
• Be reassured that a Consultant Cardiologist will automatically become involved to deal with any severe CAD that is detected.
